The Mernda Cricket Club would like to invite all of our players, members and supporters to attend this years AGM.

We'd like to give you the opportunity to have your say in the future of the club, to put your hand up to help out with running the club with a spot on the committee and, most importantly, show some support for those that have put in such hard work over the previous 12 months.

This years meeting details are as follows:

Date: Wednesday 23rd May 2012

Time: 6:45pm for 7pm start

Place: Chesterton and Co Real Estate offices, Plenty Rd, Mill Park

Please make every effort to get along, this is our most important meeting of the year and it would be great to see as many people there as possible!

3rd XI Batting: Christian Allen - Christian was only able to play a handful of games this season but certainly made the most of his opportunities. He capped off a solid season with his first hundred in the round 11 clash against Camrea.

3rd XI Bowling: Kevin Marshall - Kevin reaped the rewards of being the team's most consistent player this season by winning the bowling award. He was a great mentor for some of our younger players coming through the ranks and his experience has been invaluable.

3rd XI MVP: Shane McCarter - Shane had an interupted 2011/12 but was lucky enough to be awarded the MVP award by captain Chris Sedgman. He's hoping to be able to contribute more consistently next season and help bring the team some much deserved success.

2nd XI Batting: Brendan Gleeson - Brendan enjoyed his most consistent year with the bat and was rewarded with his first batting award. A consistent scorer all season, Spoon capped his year off nicely scoring a blistering 104 against Lower Eltham in round 9.

2nd XI Bowling: Ian Chesterton - Ian had a very consistent year with the ball in B Grade and has been rewarded for his efforts with the bowling award for season 2011/12. A very experienced bowler, he showed the way for the younger players and will be hoping his legacy can be followed next season by the younger guys.

2nd XI MVP: Ian Chesterton - Ian played a significant role as both a strike bowler and team mentor for the 2nd XI this season and helped guide the team to it's highest finish in many years. The 2nd XI MVP is an award voted on by the players and goes to show the impact Ian had on the team and the respect his team mates have for him.

1st XI Batting: Justin Stewart - Justin had to overcome a serious health concern this season and has been duly rewarded for his hard work with the 1st XI batting award. He played a very central role in the side's after-Christmas revival and capped his season off with a high score of 93 against Camrea in round 11.

1st XI bowling: Andrew Chesterton - Andrew had his most successful season in 2011/12 and was a deserved winner of the 1st XI bowling award. A consistent performer all season, Andrew's highlight came in the club's first ever win against Plenty in round 3, taking 5-16.

Paddy Deayton Medal: Justin Stewart - Winning 'Paddy' is testament to how hard Jsutin worked on his game this season. Not only was he a great contributor with the bat, but his off spin bowling proved invaluable at times and as a result he has edged out some very good cricketers to take home the best player in the 1st XI award.

Coach's Award: Craig Simmonds - Craig has been a rising star of the club for a few years now and was rewarded this season with his first game in Barclay Shield. Craig's a handy lower order batsman and more than handy right arm bowler, not to mention an absolute jet in the field and the club is really excited about his future.

Alan Brailsford Club Champion Award: Justin Stewart - As mentioned above, Justin has had a great season and has swept the pool as far as our major awards go! The Mernda Cricket Club would like to thank and congratulate Stewy on what has been a great year for him in 2011/12.

Brian Deayton Best Club Person Award: Amanda Dean - Amanda has been a club stalwart for many years, dating back to when her father Jack Gleeson, a Life Member, was a player and captain/coach, and we're thrilled to have her as our first female winner of the Brian Deayton Award. This season Amanda has been our social committee head, organising all of our events, our Milo in2CRICKET coordinator and has helped out on many occasions throughout the season. Most noteably though, she's done all of this while, first off, being pregnant then being a new mother! The Mernda Cricket Club wishes to congratulate her and husband Jordan Dean on the arrival of Olivia Leni Dean.

Life Membership: Anthony Meek - Anthony joined the club in approximately 1996 and has been a valued contributor at many levels since. Anthony has captained a lower grade Premiership team, coached junior cricket, coordinated junior cricket and is one person you can rely on to put the club first on almost any occasion. Meeky not only does all of this but he also travels more than an hour to and from the club 3 times a week to fulfill his commitments! We view our Life Membership as becoming part of a family and Anthony is someone the Mernda Cricket Club is extremely proud to call their own!

Congratulations to all award winners and thank you to all who have helped out around the club across season 2011/12. We're already looking forward to next season and can't wait to do it all again! Go Mernda!

After the great success of the sporting memorabilia auction held at the trivia night a couple of months ago, we're happy to welcome Michael and the guys from Memorabilia Magic back again! They're bringing a great array of memorabilia from all sports and you're sure to find something for yourself or your nearest and dearest as an early Easter/Birthday/Christmas present!

Price: $40 per head, includes finger food and Live Band. Drinks available from the bar at regular prices.
