 Annual $5K Draw

The Mernda Cricket Club's annual $5000 dollar draw is on again for season 2017/18 - this season will see an extended event with LIVE MUSIC following the main festivities of the day!

We have been lucky enough to secure former Australian fast bowler, best-selling author and regular 1116 SEN commentator, Rodney Hogg as our special guest for the day. Hoggy boasts the impressive record of 123 test wickets at an average of 28.5, including an astonishing 41 wickets at 12.85 in the 1978/79 Ashes series, which was an Australian record at the time! He also has some of the best and funniest stories you will hear from any ex-sportsman! He is one special guest you will not want to miss!

Tickets this year are $130, which gives you entry to the event for two people, lunch with beer wine and soft drink throughout the day as well as ONE entry to the cash draw.

There will be face painting and jumping castles for the young ones and for the first time ever, we will have a $5K Draw after party with live music, drinks at bar prices and food available up until 6pm!

For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact Colin Dean on 0400170550, Shane McCarter on 0415463558, Chris Smith on 0408400069 or get in touch with your closest contact at the club and they can get tickets on your behalf.

 Working With Children Checks

This year, we will be pushing for as many members as possible, from both our junior and senior clubs to obtain a Working With Children Check, please keep in mind that these checks are FREE as they will be only need to be for a VOLUNTEER card.

The Diamond Valley Cricket Association has asked that all of the following club volunteers obtain a WWCC:

- ALL canteen staff
- ALL committee members
- ALL junior coaches
- ALL senior captains/coaches
- ALL club scorers (both senior and junior)

We would appreciate it even more if even our members outside of that list can do the same.

The video in this link takes you through the step-by-step process and is really easy to follow. All relative club contact information can be found here.

Once you lodge your WWCC, the club will be notified and will be able to put you into a register that will be kept from now on - this will allow us to keep track of who has a current card and remind others that they need to renew their's.

If you already have a WWCC please email the club at with your card details.

Thank you for your support on this matter!

 Traditions Continue

Welcome to Season 2016/17 Mernda Family!

As we get ready to embark on the year ahead, let’s take a minute to reflect on a #FeelGoodFriday moment for our club…

This weekend will be a very special one for our Club and for one father-son combo in particular – Paul and James Baker.

With Jimmy making his senior debut this week, he’ll join his old man on the field for the very first time. This would have to be one of Bakes’ proudest moments in a career that we could go on all day about! Here’s a picture of Jimmy being presented with his Mernda cap by Club Legend, Jack Gleeson.

These two will join previous father-son combos who have played together for our great club over the years including Colin, Jordan and Callum Dean; Russ, Brent and Luke Bailey; Jack and Brendan Gleeson; Mark and Cooper Perrin; Glen, Mitch and Braydon Peterson; Stephen and Brenton Morrison; Kevin and Jarmyn Marshall; Murray and Dayne Kellett; Rick, Tom and Chris Deayton; Steve, Matt and Brad Czerny and Vinny and Brian Hanlon (sorry if we missed anyone!).

That list of names just goes to show what a rich and valuable history our great club and we’re sure it makes everyone proud to call yourself part of it!

Let’s not forget all our other Mernda debuts this week either: Josh Nixon, Akila Isanka, Maddy Bisht, Dammika Parera, Brendan Hodges, Aaron Greenough and Michael Talbot.

Good luck to everyone and GO MERNDA!
